This website aims to raise awareness among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities about the bowel screening test.

A simple test can help find changes in the bowel long before any symptoms occur. People aged between 50 and 74 are sent a free bowel screening test in the mail under the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP).

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in the NBCSP is low. Doctors, nurses and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers can help encourage more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to screen.

This website is for:

  • families and communities who want to know more about bowel cancer and bowel screening
  • primary health care health professionals – doctors, nurses, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers –  who want to learn more about promoting the NBCSP with eligible clients.
