Cause of death patterns and people’s use of aged care: a Pathways in Aged Care analysis of 2012-14 death statistics
Canberra: Australian Institute of Health and Welfare

This report focuses on older Australians (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 and over, and non-Indigenous people aged 65 and over) who died between 1 July 2012 and 30 June 2014. It presents information on the cause of death patterns. In addition, for each person in this study, their use of aged care was identified, focusing on the aged care service program they used most recently before death or at the time of death. This is the first time this analysis has been undertaken in Australia.
