Coordinator General for Remote Indigenous Services (2012)
Coordinator General for Remote Indigenous Services six monthly report April 2012 to September 2012
Canberra: Office of the Coordinator General for Remote Indigenous Services

This is the sixth report delivered in accordance with the Coordinator-General for remote Indigenous services act 2009 relating to the National partnership agreement on remote service delivery,  and covers the period April 2012 to September 2012. The report focuses on actions – built around the Closing the gap building blocks – which provide effective and sustainable services, improve governance processes and engagement, enhance accountability, and deliver local implementation plans.

With the objective of sustainable communities for the future, the report provides practical ideas to help with:

  • ensuring the sustainability of investments to deliver on government commitments
  • community involvement in the design of programs
  • ensuring the right services are available in each community
  • further improving the coordination and integration of services
  • promoting local employment
  • addressing longstanding infrastructure deficits and improving coordination
  • developing the capacity of local organisations and individuals to become more actively involved in being part of the solution
  • building the capacity of government staff for community development through the development of practice guidelines
  • getting a better understanding of the local operating context.
