Engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in prostate cancer health care programs
Sydney: Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia

The aim of this report is to engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health experts to discuss current health issues and raise awareness about prostate cancer among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.

The report describes the known prostate cancer statistics for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men in the context of those for the general population, and the evidence on factors influencing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes. The report then examines the barriers to improving awareness of prostate cancer as a health issue amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and their communities, and presents culturally appropriate strategies for overcoming them.
