The Heart on your sleeve (HOYS) campaign for rheumatic heart disease is a social media campaign which was launched in February 2016 with the following stated aims:

  • to raise awareness about acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD)
  • to show community support for those that have RHD and their families
  • to advocate for the end of RHD.

The campaign was initiated and funded by community members in Broome, Western Australia, and urges social media users to wear their ‘heart’ on their ‘sleeve’ by posting photos of their ‘hearts’ on Twitter using the hashtag #HeartOnYourSleeve.
