Improving housing and service responses to domestic and family violence for Indigenous individuals and families
Melbourne: Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute

This report looks at the housing pathways available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children in the aftermath of domestic and family violence (DFV).

It provides information on:

  • the availability of crisis, transitional and long-term housing
  • responses to domestic and family violence through law reforms and integrated service systems
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s and children’s experiences
  • consequences of limited housing pathways.

Additionally, it offers recommendations to reduce rates of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s injury and death, as well as rates of their children’s out-of-home care.
