Health Policy Issue Briefs; : (1-22)

This report presents evidence on the increasing obesity rates among Indigenous children. The report considers the following topics in relation to this increasing trend:

  • the current approach adopted to tackle the problem
  • a proposed social determinants of health approach
  • policy context and implications
  • data analysis of the Longitudinal study of Indigenous children
  • data analysis of a case study on soft drink consumption.

In conclusion, the report stresses the importance of developing evidence based programs that are transferable to different settings.
