This report provides comprehensive data on perinatal mortality in Australia. It provides analyses of stillbirths (the death of unborn babies over 20 weeks gestation or 400 grams birthweight) and neonatal deaths (the death of live born babies up to and including 27 days after birth) for the 2011-2012 period and trends analysis for 1993-2012.

The report aims to provide a better understanding of the causes of perinatal deaths and identify changes in perinatal mortality over time. Data used for this report come from jurisdictional perinatal data collections and information collated by state and territory perinatal mortality review committees.
