The 12th National Rural Health Conference: Strong commitment bright future was held 7-10 April 2013 in Adelaide, SA.

The conference aimed to:

  • showcase developments on the ground
  • strengthen networks of consumers, providers and researchers
  • provide an opportunity for research reports to be delivered by both experienced and beginning researchers
  • encourage information dissemination and the development of policies and service systems
  • anticipate developments and issues and help set the sector’s agenda
  • promote greater public awareness of rural and remote health issues.

Delegates included people involved in rural, regional and remote health: clinicians and other health workers, managers and researchers. Participants also came from other sectors that contribute to the health of people in country Australia, such as education, the environment, transport, housing, economic development and community services. The conference aimed to recognise the roles played by people involved in these sectors, to widen the view of the rural and remote health community and to give depth and greater effectiveness to the endeavours to improve rural health.
