Be strong series
Canberra: Rural Health Education Foundation
This series of TV programs aims to tackle smoking and promote healthy lifestyles in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The programs show a selection of community initiatives and projects which owe much of their success to partnerships and collaboration within the Indigenous communities. Projects and initiatives are showcased so that other communities can adapt and them to best suit the needs of their communities. Sharing initiatives and triggering conversations is a key element of the Be strong series.
These programs are of particular relevance to Tobacco Action Workers, Healthy Lifestyle Workers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers, healthcare professionals and community groups. Some programs have a strong educational component, but others, while being educational, have more general information content for wider audience appeal. Points toward CPD may apply to some programs.
The half-hour programs are broadcast on the Rural Health channel – check the TV guide for broadcast times.
