The Care for kids’ ears: strong hearing strong start website was developed by the Australian Government to increase awareness of ear disease and hearing loss among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The website provides a range of resource kits for teachers, childcare workers, communities, parents and carers to inform them about ear health. It is part of the first national campaign by the Australian Government to target Indigenous ear disease. The aim is to contribute to a reduction in ear disease in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by increasing awareness of:

  • the role of modifiable behaviours
  • signs and symptoms of ear disease
  • understanding the link between ear disease and associated hearing loss
  • its impacts on learning and communication
  • ways to prevent and treat ear disease.
