The Living strong: healthy lifestyle cookbook was developed in response to requests from clients attending the Healthy Weight and Living Strong programs that have been successfully conducted in Queensland since 2005. The programs were designed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults. Clients of the programs felt there was a need for a cookbook with healthy recipes to complement the program and to assist them in making healthier choices when preparing meals for their families.

The cookbook provides a variety of healthy recipes including some traditional cooking ideas. The recipes are provided to encourage people to use more vegetables, fruit, lean meat and fish to make quick and easy nutritious meals.
