Mental health in remote and rural communities
Canberra: Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia

This report on the mental health of remote and rural Australians served by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is the first report using this mental health data. Together with other national data, the inclusion of this information will contribute to a more accurate and complete picture of mental health among rural and remote Australians.

This report covers content such as mental health, mental disorders, suicide, global mental health, national mental health and rural and remote mental health. It covers the structure and services provided by the RFDS including aeromedical retrievals, primary health care services, telehealth, ground transport services, mental health and social and emotional wellbeing services, as well as case studies in Central Australia and Queensland. It further covers tasking, data collecting, coding and results. The report concludes with recommendations to improve mental health and reduce the impacts of mental disorders and suicide in remote and rural Australia.
