The content of this report describes the current status of child protection in Australia. It includes information on the process of child protection as well as the various developments that have occurred in child protection policies and practices. The report also provides data pertaining to the rate of: child protection notifications, investigations, and substantiations; care and protection orders; and out-of-home care orders for each state and territory. The included statistics are for the period of 2006-07 and have been divided into two populations: Indigenous Australians and non-Indigenous Australians.
