This report details the findings from a study investigating the contextual and motivational factors for self-build housing as another approach to providing housing for small remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The outcomes of the study can assist organisations and Government agencies as they tackle the issue of affordable housing for communities. A number of case studies are presented in the report which investigated the personal, physical and institutional factors that impacted on the decision to self-build. Recommendations for consideration are provided in the report.
