The Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs (APSAD) held its conference, Building on capital, 28 November -1 December 2010, in Canberra.

Conference presentations relevant to Indigenous health included the following:

  • Bryant J, Ward J, Worth H, Hull P, Solar S, Bailey S. Patterns of risk and resilience in the drug and alcohol use practices of Aboriginal young people in NSW.
  • Dingwell K, Cainey S. Cognitive recovery among Aboriginal substance users during and after treatment.
  • Calabria B, Clifford A, Shakeshaft A, Doran C, Allan J, Rose M, Tsey K. Family-based approaches to reduce alcohol-related harms among Indigenous Australians.
  • Midford R. Getting the best out of online knowledge resources: a workshop for those working in the area of Indigenous substance use.

The conference focused on innovative treatment, prevention, law enforcement and policy in the areas of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
