Lugarno, NSW: Playful Beginnings Aboriginal Corporation

The road, my mob and me conveys key pedestrian, passenger and play, road safety messages to young Indigenous children and their parents or carers in a culturally appropriate way. The interactive booklet features the Bunganditj Kids puppet characters, Ivan and Annie, and has pages for art and craft activities, including space for a road safety picture and for hand painting – in red, black and yellow.

The workbook was the outcome of a project funded under the annual National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA) Motoring and Services safer driving school road safety grant – Infants and preschool. It is currently being distributed to members of the Gandangara Local Land Council and to Indigenous playgroups in south west Sydney, New South Wales (NSW).
