This report presents the findings from youth survey data collection between 2012-2016 on the rates of psychological distress in young Australians, the concerns young people reported which may be associated with high levels of psychological distress and the help seeking behaviour of these young people. The report includes data specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. Topics covered include:

  • introduction and methodology
  • demographic characteristics and probable serious mental illness
  • issues of concern to young people
  • help seeking behaviour among young people
  • implications for policy and practice
  • conclusion.

The report also includes key policy recommendations.
